Following on the heels of VCC team success at the recent BC Mixed Championship, the Club had a member competing on the east coast of Canada this week. Stan Walker played third for Team Lepine (from the Langley Curling Club) at the 2013 Canadian Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships in Summerside, PEI.
Team Lepine finished the eleven-game round-robin tied for eighth place. You can view all of their games results at curling.ca.
Stan plays in the Club's Thursday Open League with Team Reibin, who were in third place overall heading into the final playoff round for the league.
|The VCC hosted the province's best mixed curling teams from March 14-17 with the 2013 Williams Moving & Storage BC Mixed Curling Championship, and the Club's own Team Switzer were crowned champions. This marks the Club's fifth BC Mixed title and 49th provincial championship overall.||

Featured above right, Team Switzer is skip Keith Switzer, third Sandra Comadina, second Leonard Firkus, lead Carman Cheng and fifth Brad Blackwell. They captured the championship with a win over Team Kylmchuk from the Langley Curling Club in the final.
Not be outdone, the Club's second team who qualified for the provincial championship - Team Wakefield - captured the bronze medal after they defeated Team Weinreich of Nanaimo and Victoria in the quarterfinal but came up short against Team Klymchuk in the semifinal. Team Wakefield is skip Jay Wakefield, third Rebecca Turley, second Jeff Cawker and lead Michelle Dunn.
Many, many thanks to the team of volunteers who helped organize and host the province at the Club's first provincial championship in our new home. Kudos are also extended to the host committee and the VCC staff for everything they did before and during the event to ensure it was a success.

Team Ueda, a combined VCC / North Shore Winter Club team, finished tied for fifth at the recently-completed 2013 Tim Horton's BC Juvenile Men's Curling Championship in Prince George.
Team Ueda represented Zone 5, which encompasses Vancouver, the North Shore and the entire Sea-to-Sky region. Team members are skip Jay Ueda, third Cullen Quek, second Arthur Yee, and lead Keegan Lennie (Jay, Arthur and Keegan are VCC members). The team is coached by former VCC member Max Langlais and North Shore Winter Club GM Liz Goldenberg.
At the BC Juvenile Championship, teams were placed in two pools. Team Ueda was 1-1 after their first two games and lost their third game, preventing the team from moving on to the playoff round. Team Ueda is to be congratulated, though, for handing the winning team their only loss during the event.
