Now that our 2012-2013 season is entering its third month, it's time to see if any members might have some time they would like to give. The Board and staff greatly appreciate the time and support a number of members have already given to the Club this season, but we can certainly use a few more hands for a key event and program at the VCC.
With the Club hosting the 2013 Williams Moving & Storage BC Mixed Curling Championships in March, our event chair - Keith Switzer - is keen to recruit additional volunteers. From event drivers and support with 50/50 sales to banquet planning and event officials, any interested members should please send an email to Willa if you can help in the lead up to and/or during the event from March 14-17, 2013.
A second area of additional volunteer need is with our Junior Development Program. The number of junior curlers has expanded this season so we are in need of some inspirational members who are interested in volunteer coaching and helping the Juniors on Saturday mornings from 10-11:30 am. Interested members should please contact Brad.
Congratulations to Team Gibson (Fourth Rebecca Turley, Skip Amy Gibson, Second Carmen Cheng and Lead Michelle Dunn) for their efforts and representing the VCC at this past weekend's Women's Provincial Playdowns in Vernon.
Team Gibson finished the weekend with a 2-3 record, eventually losing out in the C quarter-finals to a tough field. There are two more chances for the team to qualify for the 2013 BC Women's Championships: in North Vancouver from Nov 30 - Dec 2 or in Prince George from Dec 14-16.
Is anyone Pintrested? To honour our 100th Anniversary, the VCC has introduced a commemorative pin celebrating our centennial. The pins are available in the Pro Shop and Last Draw Lounge, and are a great way to show your support for our Club and its rich history.
The Club also now has VCC-branded water bottles available in the Pro Shop. So with Christmas just around the corner, both items could make great stocking stuffers.
Lastly, we heard in last year's survey that some members were interested in additional VCC-branded items. Since we had varied feedback on the possible items, now's your chance to have your say by stopping by the pro shop the next time you're at the Club to let us know what VCC-branded gear you would purchase.
