2012 Annual General Meeting
June 6, 2012 at 7pm
Location: The Last Draw Lounge at the VCC (4575 Clancy Loranger Way)
Our annual general meeting is coming up in two weeks and the Board of Directors encourages your presence. The AGM provides VCC members an opportunity to learn all that went on at the Club over the past year, to ask questions and to provide input into future decisions. As a membership-driven organization, your input is critical.
This past week saw some great curling action as the 2012 VCC Championships filled the ice shed from Monday to Thursday evening. After starting with 24 teams, we were left with one champion; congratulations to Team Macdonald from Thursday Open for capturing the 2012 title as Club Champions.
Picture on the right (L to R: Hamish Macdonald, second;, Craig Whitaker, fourth; Chris Allcock, skip; and Reg Siemens, lead), Team Macdonald won the A flight by defeating Team McNichol from the Pacific Rim Curling League in the final. Meanwhile, on the B side, Team Allen / Bos from Sunday Open defeated Team Martin from the Motors league.
Congratulations to all of the teams for an enjoyable week and many exciting games on the ice. You can view the completed draw results by clicking here. Special thanks to Granville Island Brewing for sponsoring the prizes and look for Team Macdonald to be wearing their new Club Champion jackets next season.
Curl BC is pleased to announce that the 2013 Williams Moving & Storage BC Mixed Curling Championship has been awarded to the Vancouver Curling Club. This unique event enables men and women to play together on the same team and will be held March 14 – 17, 2013.
The BC Championship will host the top eight mixed curling teams from across the province in the 2012/2013 season. Teams will compete in a triple knock-out format with a 4-team page-playoff. The winning team will advance to the 2014 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, November 14-23, 2013 at the Rideau Curling Club in Ottawa.
The BC Mixed Curling Championship first began in 1964 and was won by the Gil Moel rink from the Trail Curling Club.
