The VCC was well represented at the Mixed Doubles Provincial Curling Championships with five of 13 teams. Participants included: Shelley Birston/Scott Robertson, Jon Braun/Alison Koch, Andrew Forrest/Becky Campbell, Daniel Jun/Allison DenToom and Keith Switzer/Carmen Cheng. Congratulations to Shelley Birston/Scott Robertson and Andrew Forrest/Becky Campbell who went undefeated in the round robin and Daniel Jun/Allison DenToom who also made the playoffs.
From January 21 - 25, 2015 Team Gushulak took part in the Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship, where the team finished with a 1-3 record, narrowly missing a spot in the page playoffs.
Team Brower, Skip: Richard Brower, Third: Denis Sutton, Second: Jan Bos and Lead: Larry MacDonald, will be representing the VCC at the Senior Men’s Provincial Championships held February 16 - 21, 2015 at the Alberni Curling Club, after winning the C event at the playdowns in January.

Team Richter, Skip: Marilou Richter, Third: Deb Walker, Second: Brenda Garvey and Lead: Pam Cuthbert took home the B qualifying spot at the event. Team Birston also participated at the event.

We raised $350 in the raffle draw and there was another $50 contributed as a donation.
All of these funds will go to support the Sandra Schmirler Foundation.
Thank you all for your generous support.
This past weekend marks the 15th anniversary of Sandra Schmirler's death, and Feb. 15th has officially become Sandra Schmirler Day in Saskatchewan, and here at the VCC.
The Foundation was set up in Sandra's name in 2001 and they have donated over $2.8 million to 35 hospitals from coast to coast for the purchase of life-saving equipment for their newborn intensive care units. In 2015, they expect to shatter the $3 million target with the help of generous donors like you. If you donate, please mention that your home club is the VCC. Call 1-866-210-6011, or donate on-line at www.sandraschmirler.org
Recently, a VCC club member and competitive curler in her own right Diane Gushalak shared the story of her own child Emma, who was born prematurely. The funds that the Schmirler Foundation raise support the equipment used to save Emma's life. Below is Diane, Brian, and Emma telling their story - have some tissues ready.
The VCC is also be holding a silent auction for two 4th row event tickets to the Brier, valued at $1000. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Schmirler Foundation. Bid here: http://vancurl.com/brier-silent-auction
