VCC Teams take on the Region
Congratulations to Team Gibson for finishing third at the Lower Mainland division of the Dominion Curling Club Championships of British Columbia this weekend. From VCC's Thursday Open league, team members are skip Amy Gibson, third Rebecca Turley, second Carman Cheng and lead Michelle Dunn.
After the round-robin portion, Team Gibson finished tied for first in their pool with wins over Royal City, Delta Thistle and Cloverdale and qualified for the semi-final by defeating Langley in a tie-breaker. They lost to Golden Ears (the eventual champions) in the semi-final but rebounded to defeat Chilliwack and capture the bronze medal as well as the right to play in the combined BC Dominion Club Challenge and Pacific International Cup.
A second VCC team was also competing at the Dominion Club Challenge this weekend in the men's division. Team Chute was in tough in their round-robin pool with one win over Delta Thistle and three losses to Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale. From Sunday Open, Team Chute won the VCC men's playdownsdefeating Team Tully in the final of the double-knockout event. Team members are skip Chris Chute, third Christopher Summers, second Nigel McInnis and lead Allen Ho.
Team Gibson will take on the best of BC and the western United States from April 17-21 at the Richmond Curling Centre. Complete results for Team Gibson and Team Chute can be found by clicking here.
